This little eBook is not about how to use Twitter or how to get started with Twitter. It’s not the answer to the question “What is Twitter?”. It’s not about who you should follow or who should follow you. It’s not about being popular, cool, loved, adored, or anything else that was important in the 7th grade.

This little eBook is about how to make the most of Twitter’s power without spending your entire life on it. In other words - how to make Twitter work for you without Twitter becoming work itself.

I presume a lot in this book. I presume you know how to use Google Reader, RSS, Yahoo Pipes, Twitter, and more. If you don’t, get up to speed on the basics of those tools first.

Will this guide answer all your questions? Definitely not. Will it make your Twitter experience a little more productive, a little more helpful? It should.

  • thanks, chris! i've been pondering recently what i really want from twitter (as mentioned on my last 'chillin with lovespirals' band podcast), so this comes at a very good time. i've been looking into tweetdeck and its competitors, watching what other "power users" utilize, and wondering what's right for me. i appreciate you taking the time to create this ebook!

    FYI, there is a quirk in the Twitter / Gmail contact connection, see short video http://blip.tv/file/1694556 . I incorrectly mention in video the quirk is in gmail but it may really be a combined quirk in Gmail and Twitter.
    * Short version:
    ** import a CSV file into the "new version" of gmail
    ** go to Twitter and use find on other networks function.
    ** the contacts are not seen by Twitter.
    Then (after deleting contacts in gmail account)
    ** import a CSV file into the "old version" of gmail
    ** go to Twitter and use find on other networks function.
    ** the contacts _are_ seen by Twitter.
